Sun, Waves and Winds

Offshores, AKA - Santa Ana Winds are created when a ridge of High Pressure settles in the Great Basin behind California. The stronger the pressure, the stronger the winds and the duration. These winds travel and flow through the basin, funneling between the inland mountains and valleys to finally reach the Coastline. The winds groom the ocean surface. And when there's waves in the water the wind blows up the face of the wave turning them into perfect hollow barrels.

Accompanied by Stiff, Freezing Offshore WInds.
During A Santa Ana Wind Event, It's mostly Sunny and Pristine conditions for days.
But it's not always sunny sky's and clear water.
Offshore winds can accompany a storm front. The clouds and sunlight make awesome colors during these times.
The winds blowing up the waveface.
The backspray is what we call the water thats being pushed up in the air off the top of                 the wave. When your behind a wave while this is happening, it feels like rain is falling on you.
Vivid colors.
Shallow and so fun.
The water being peeled of the top of the wave creating the backspray.
An amazing moment. Ill never forget this sunrise.
Surfing great waves with good offshore winds.
